2019年4月22日 舳倉島
今季2度目の遠征は前回の10日後でしたが、当然のことながら鳥の種類は変わり、数も増えていました。
The 2nd visit in this season was 10 days after the 1st.
Of course, the birds were different and increased.
行きの航路では、まだ少数ですがアカエリヒレアシシギが見られました。
珍しく上空に舞い上がり、この後さらに上昇しました。
I saw some Red-necked Phalaropes from the boat on the way to the island.
They normaly fly along the surface, so I don't see them flying high like this.
舳倉島はもちろん猛禽類にとっても楽園です。
この日もハイタカのメス成鳥が飛んでいました。

The island is of course one of the best pleces for birds of prey.
前回に比べ、島にはやはり夏鳥が増えていました。

A lot of summer birds had arrived at the island after my 1st visit.
キビタキやコマドリも到着していますが、コマドリの姿を見るのは日帰りでは至難の業です。。。

Blue-and-white and Narcissus are popular summer birds in Japan, but I always take photographs, because they are just beautiful.
ホオアカも舳倉でよく見られますが、草地からあまり出てこないので目立たない鳥です。
この時は、おそらくメスの第一回夏羽が、目立つところにとまってくれました。
Chestnut-eared Bunting, may be female 1st summer.
It's usually staying in the grasses, so it was nice opportunity to take a photo like this.
ビンズイもいい場所に出てきてくれました。
ビンズイやタヒバリの仲間も識別が難しいので、分かりやすい場所にとまってくれると助かります。
The only pipit I saw on this day was this Olive-backed.
It perched on a good branch to identify.
ミヤマホオジロは島で一番多い鳥の一つなので、なんとかいい写真が撮れました。

I could take a good shot, because it is the one of the most common birds in the island.
そして今回見つけた大物はこちら。
ハシグロヒタキ、オス第一回夏羽。
The best one I found this time was this Northern Wheatear.
It was a male 1st summer with the juvenile feathers.
逆光と黒い岩の上の陽炎とで、撮影は非常に難しかったですが、とても嬉しい出会いでした。
翼が真っ黒ではなく、幼羽であることが、第一回夏羽の特徴です。
The backlight and the heat haze on the black rocks made me difficult to photograph it, but it was so nice to see this good bird.
そして今年最初の難問がコレ。
Next bird was my 1st tricky one in this seaosn.
最初は、三列風切から顕著に突出する初列風切を見て、コヒバリだと思いました。
が、コヒバリの決定打である初列風切の突出があるにもかかわらず、全体的な模様は完全にヒメコウテンシ・・・。
I thought it would be a Asian Short-toed Lark at the first sight, because it had an obvious primary projection.
However, the dark patch on the breast-side and whole pattern would be proper for standard Greater Short-toed Lark...
Then I asked a friend of mine Mr.Neil Davidson, and he always give me a convincing tip to lead me to the answer.
そんなこともあるのかと、私の友人であり良きアドバイザーでもあるMR.ニール・ダビッドソンに相談の上、この個体は奇跡的に最長三列風切を左右ともに欠損したヒメコウテンシであるとの結論に至りました。
このように、大きな三列風切が片側2枚しか見えず、そのために初列が突出するという、偶然の重なったヒメコウテンシでした。
Finally, I consider it to be a Greater Short-toed Lark which lacks both longest tertials.
It may sounds too much of a coincidence, but indeed it has only 2 large tertials in the images.
最後は帰りの航路にて、シロエリオオハム。
飛んでいる夏羽の個体もたくさんいましたが、唯一浮いていたこの一羽は夏羽に換羽中の個体でした。
The last one is this Pacific Diver on the way back to Wajima.
It's just moulting to summer plumage.

例年通り3月は海が荒れてタイミングが合わず、やっと今年初めて舳倉に渡れました。
Finally, I could get out to Hegura on this day.
I wanted to go in March, but the sea was too rough to get out as usual winter.
この日は舳倉航路の新造船、希海の初就航の日。
今後30年お世話になるであろう船の就航に立ち会えて、幸運なスタートを切れました。
It was the first day that this newly-built ferry "Nozomi" went into service.
渡りシーズンの初期は、いつもヤツガシラから。
舳倉では3月によく見られますが、まだいてくれました。
Hoopoe is pretty rare bird in mainland, but we can see it every early spring in the island.
I usually see it in March, but it was still there.
ヤツガシラの向こうにもヤツガシラ。
この日は最低2羽いました。
There were at least 2 birds on this day.
ツグミはそれほど多くはなかったですが、海岸に1羽、ハチジョウツグミがいました。
Dusky Thrush is our common thrush, but I found this Naumann's at the shore.
この日、島で多かったのはミヤマホオジロとジョウビタキでした。

There were a lot around the island.
珍しく、開けた場所で群れで採餌していました。

Roughly 15 birds are feeding in this low-growing grass area.
少数のムクドリの群れの中に、ホシムクドリも2羽いました。
オス成鳥、夏羽に移行中。

2 Common Starlings were in a small flock of White-cheeked Starlings.
時々島に立ち寄るマガンが、この日は1羽ヘリポートに降り立ちました。
お気に入りの採餌場所になっているようです。
A Greater White-fronted Goose landed on the heliport.
It looked like it was a favorite feeding spot of the bird.
ミヤマガラスは3羽まだ残っていました。
風が無かったせいか、上空に舞い上がって旅立とうとしては、諦めて戻ってきていました。
3 Rooks were still there.
Then they soared high up into the sky and tried to leave for north a couple of times, but they couldn't because the wind was not good enough.
帰りの航路ではウミスズメ、カンムリウミスズメとも複数見られました。
この時期によく見られるカンムリウミスズメ。
I saw some Japanese Murrelets from the ferry on the way back to Wajima.
There are quite a lot of them along the sea route in early spring.
